QA Programs for Uptake Probes and Well Counters

I’d like to introduce myself, my name is Ann Marie Alessi, Product Sales Manager at Biodex and on June 7th, 2011 at our Annual meeting, in San Antonio, I became president of the Society of Nuclear Medicine Technologist Section (SNMTS). What a successful meeting it was!

It was a successful meeting with more than 5,500 physicians, technologists, physicists, scientists and exhibitors in attendance. In addition to the more than 70 continuing education sessions, 1,818 scientific papers and posters were presented at the meeting and 165 companies were represented on the exhibit hall floor. For me the Annual meeting was a marathon of governance and liaison organization meetings.

Having one year on the SNMTS leadership team under my belt, I can say that I have learned much over the past months and am excited to lead the SNMTS membership as president for the 2011-2012 term.

One of my main goals as president is to connect with members as often as possible. The programs, services and initiatives that SNMTS undertakes must all benefit the membership—whether it is an education course on a new technology, a scholarship fund or a bill in Congress that will advance the field of nuclear medicine technology. Connecting with members is a two-way street; we not only need to share with members the great things that the SNMTS is doing, but we also listen to their feedback as to how we can improve.

We have many other goals to accomplish in the coming year. As you most likely know, SNM is considering a name change for the organization to the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. Over the past several years SNM has integrated molecular imaging into the society’s education, journals and direction for the future. We are now looking to our members to provide feedback to the name change. I encourage all members to let the SNM and SNMTS leadership know their thoughts on the name change. I look forward to receiving comments from the membership on this significant decision.

I want to thank the SNMTS members for placing their trust in me to lead our society in the coming year and represent their needs and concerns. It’s an honor to be able to work with technologists from across the nation to improve the field of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. I would like to also thank my colleagues here at Biodex. Without their support and encouragement I would not have been able to pursue my passion and life-long dream.

If you would like to provide feedback, please feel free to send your questions or comments to: feedback@snm.org.
