A fall is one of the major fears for older adults and their loved ones. Thanks to a grant from Washington Square Health Foundation, Inc., Adult & Child Therapy Services is offering a way of clinically assessing the likelihood of a fall for older adults in the community.
Adult & Child Therapy Services has a variety of state-of-the-art equipment. One of these pieces of equipment includes the Biodex Balance System SD. The Balance System SD provides clinical protocol to determine if clients are at risk of a fall. It also determines if a patient is compensating for an injury and what areas need to be worked on to build strength, improve balance, maintain independence and improve mobility. This system is consistent with the American Geriatric Society’s clinical guidelines for prevention of a fall in an older adult.
If you or a loved one are concerned about balance issues and the risk of falling for the older adult in your life, please call Adult & Child Therapy Services at (815) 338 1707 to set up a fall risk screening.
